A native of the Chicago suburbs, Joe DeFranco started his career as a Marine Corps Officer, where he served for for 22 years in various leadership roles, including Battery Commander, Battalion Commander and as an Operations Chief with the Joint Chiefs of Staff / National Airborne Operations Center. Joe retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel.
After his military career, Joe transitioned to a second career in telecommunications, serving in a variety of sales, sales engineering and sales leadership roles with Fortune 500 companies including Lucent Technologies, Avaya and CommScope, and gained significant experience as a Regional Vice President for CommScope’s largest Enterprise sales territory for six years.
Joe’s post graduate education includes a Master of Arts in Public Administration from the University of Illinois, and a Master of Arts in National Security Strategy from the U.S. Naval War College.
